SEO reports your clients will actually read

Every month, each of your clients gets a report in your branding that a business owner can read. Here is one.

Sample. Kelburn Plumbing is a made-up Wellington plumber and these are fixture figures, not a real client.

Get started

Search Console, rankings, competitors, site health, Core Web Vitals and Google reviews, watched for you and written up in plain English. You keep the retainer; the reporting runs itself.

What the report says about it

Visits from search fell by about a third this month, and almost all of that came from one search: "emergency plumber wellington". Google has started showing its own written answer above the results for that search, and a competitor has moved above you on it. Your hot water page is also returning an error, so nobody can reach it.

  1. Your emergency page lost half its visits without losing its position

Just as many people saw you for "emergency plumber wellington" as last month, 1,910 against 1,840, but visits fell from 71 to 34. Google has begun showing an AI-written answer above the results for that search, and Capital Plumbers has moved from position 14 to position 1.

This is the search people use when they have water coming through the ceiling, so it brings your most urgent and most valuable calls. Thirty-seven of those calls went somewhere else this month.

What to doPut your response time and your phone number in the first paragraph of the emergency page, so the answer someone needs is visible before they read anything else.

    Quick fix
  2. Your hot water page is returning an error

The page at kelburnplumbing.co.nz/hot-water returns a "not found" error. Google has noticed and removed it from its index, and you no longer appear at all for "hot water cylinder replacement", a search you were at position 9 for last month.

Cylinder replacements are a booked job worth real money, and right now anyone searching for one cannot find you and cannot reach the page if they do.

What to doGet your web person to restore that page, or point the address at whichever page now covers hot water work.

    Quick fix
  3. Your home page got noticeably slower

The main content on your home page now takes 4.3 seconds to appear on a phone, up from 2.2 seconds last month. That has moved it from the good band into the poor one.

People give up on a slow page, and on a phone in a hurry they give up faster. It also makes every other search improvement work less well.

What to doAsk whoever maintains the site what changed on the home page last month, and start with any large images that were added.

    Some work
  4. A two-star Google review has no reply

Three new Google reviews came in this month, two of them five stars. The one on 15 July gave two stars and says a callback about a leaking cylinder took three days. It has no reply yet, and your overall rating has moved from 4.7 to 4.6.

People choosing a plumber on Google read the low reviews first, and what they judge is whether the owner answered. A calm reply tells them the problem gets fixed.

What to doReply publicly this week: acknowledge the wait, and offer to ring them directly to put it right.

    Quick fix
  5. A competitor has appeared for blocked drains

Wellington Drains sits at position 2 for "blocked drain wellington" while you are at position 6. Your own position has not changed.

Most people choose from the first two or three results, so being sixth on a search that brings 880 views a month means most of them never see you.

What to doAdd a page about blocked drains in the suburbs you actually cover, rather than one page for the whole city.

    Some work
  6. Your services page has no description in search results

The services page has no description set, so Google picks a sentence from the page itself to show underneath your name in the results.

That sentence is what convinces someone to click you rather than the plumber above you, and at the moment nobody has chosen it.

What to doWrite one sentence describing what you do and where you work, and have it added as the page description.

    Quick fix
